Yes. I vote against the patch. I'll try to finish tomorrow a patch
that will allow you to simply turn off the datarootdir related checks.
Rationale: the check is a heuristic, thus broken By Design[1].
Just because it works in your case, doesn't mean that Autoconf
developers would like to receive the next bug report about the
next user case in another week.
