On Linux/x86_64
gcc -c -gdwarf-4 t.c
generates
DW_AT_comp_dir : (indirect string, offset: 0x4e): /tmp
but "gcc -c -g t.s" generates
DW_AT_comp_dir : /tmp
which the linker can't merge for multiple TUs, and which can consume quite a
bit of space.
