This seems to be not as easy. At home I've tried to set up a small demo project (C only) for the STM32F4 micro controller. In this demo project I cannot reproduce the error, which means the linker works correctly even when I shrink the FLASH memory region down to the exact size the executable needs. There must be something "special" in my project at work (perhaps C++ is required in order to trigger the problem).
