As far as I can see, ld places __CTOR_LIST__ directly at the end of the .text section - and in case the .text section isn't exactly a multiple of 4, the -1 at the beginning would be unaligned, and there would be garbage/fillers between that and the first member from .ctors (which is aligned) - is this what is happening?
