No, I still have no idea. It fails when running check-root, it does not fail if I manually run it. For the record, I am using the same glibc you used on your try. Right now I am tending to consider it some sort of environment thingy, and leave it be. As time permits I will keep on trying to zero in this. I am trying to free up some few Gigas, and install a fresh Ubuntu 9.04 under VirtualBox. Given I can do it, I will try on a virgin 9.04 (as opposed to my laptop). The other servers I have either do not have space, or cannot be used for tests. Thanks, Kamil.
