Hello Allan,

I am currently trying to rescue a faulty 250GB external USB drive. I am on a Macbook Pro i7 and have compiled ddrescue 1.14 in Terminal. I am a first timer at this so am not sure how to interpret the readings I am getting as block splitting is underway. Also the whole process has dragged my laptop to a near standstill as Terminal, ddrescue and associated root processes are hogging CPU and RAM. The dmg file I am writing is currently sat at 2.81GB so obviously still some way to go but am hard pressed to tell if this si working.

For some reason ddrescue is unable to determine drive size on at least some Macs, (see that the errsize is already larger than your whole drive), so you'll have to use the -s option:

`-s BYTES'
`--max-size=BYTES'
Maximum size of the input data to be copied, in bytes. If ddrescue
can't determine the size of the input device, you may need to
     specify it with this option.

Antonio.
