Thanks for this detailed report.
From the rates reported, it seems the clock in your machine (the value
returned by the 'time' function) stopped increasing or jumped back in
time. This makes ddrescue to stop updating the progress until the final
report.
Note that not only the 'current rate' jumps to a very large value, The
'average rate' also jumps up by about the same amount as the ratio
total_size / size_at_last_report.
Did you adjust the date or time during the rescue?
