Hi all, maybe a little late, but have you considered "journal" either by itself or in conjunction with "block", i.e., "blockjournal"?
The concept of a journal to track modifications in modern file systems is well-established, as is the name. Herein lies a potential for misunderstanding, because a user might confuse the ddrescue journal with the file system journal. Then again, if a user knows about file system details, maybe they won't make that mistake.
