If the flag is set filenames will be escaped.

Okay, but what about the quoting implementation? Is wrapping in single
quotes sufficient? I can't think of any counterexamples offhand, other
than the existence of more complicated shell-quote libraries - e.g.,
Perl's String::ShellQuote:

<https://github.com/deepin-community/libstring-shellquote-perl/blob/master/ShellQuote.pm>.

My implementation of ed allows specifying any shell in /etc/shells for
executing shell scripts, but I'm comfortable assuming that these are
POSIX-compatible.
