It was meant to affect the "sensitive" property of GtkWidget: https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/GtkWidget.html#GtkWidget--sensitive If it is FALSE, the label will have some kind of "inactive" appearance (and won't receive any input event). Yes, I agree it is confusing. Would it make sense to use other properties, e.g. "use-markup", so the msgids will look like: msgid "Use XML markup" msgid "Whether to use XML markup in the text of the label."
