What you are trying to do is probably better done by using the normal
source code:

First:

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:[email protected]:/sources/gnubg co

and if that doesn't work get a snap shot from here:

http://gnubg.org/media/sources/

and then:

cd gnubg
./autogen.sh
./configure --prefix=$HOME
make
make install
