Has anyone ever looked into alternate compilers (such as those sold by
Intel)? Is there an ethical/principled issue against using
non-OpenSource? The goal would be increased speed due to better
optimization, etc. For example, I believe the *Intel® C++ Compiler
Professional Edition for Linux* *has a free trial download and academic
price around $170. (~$2k commercial license).
