Hi, Yes, I believe someone used Intel some years ago. I don't remember who. I also believe Microsoft VC has been used. At least there is no ethical/principled issued against compiling GNU Backgammon with a non-OpenSource compiler. However, if you try, you will probably get some problems on the way.
