Dear all,
I had a snapshot of GNU running since 18.05.2009 (installed previously from the
23 MB file "gnubg-MAIN-20090518-NOGLADE-setup") up until tonight. Since it has
been a long time that I updated my Win executables, I went to gnubg.org to
download the newest version.
I have no idea what "g threads", "sse2", "win" or "glib" means, so I downloaded
again the file under the "install archive (g threads, sse2)" link that was
approximately 23 MB, guessing that it would be the right file.
Also, having seen the remark on the page, that archives older than September
should be newly reinstalled, I uninstalled the old version of GNU completely
from my computer and installed this new file "gnubg-MAIN-20090907-setup".
Now, when I try to start up the newest version of GNU, I get the "gnubg.exe -
Application Error" titled Windows error window with the red cross in it saying
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to
terminate the application".
Just out of curiosity, I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the snapshot
from 18.05.2009 and it is opening up fine!? So I am confused what the
difference between the two files is such that the new one won't open up? What
am I doing wrong here? I would appreciate all your help since I do not have a
deep technical computer background...
For your reference, here is my notebook's specs:
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3
Intel Pentium 4 Mobile CPU 1.70 GHz
1.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go (Toshiba)
Looking forward to your receiving your expertise to fix this problem, I remain,
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
Efe
