This is interesting. I have seen this particular problem on Linux at least
in the past but under more unusual circumstances. I ssh (with -X) into a box
with gnubg on it (running Debian Lenny). This tunnels all the X window calls
to my client box where I ssh'ed from originally. When I switch to full
screen the screen gets distorted in 3D mode (okay in 2D). I get no
assertions or warnings at the console though. In the past I had encountered
the board area being grey. Now the rendering is incorrect (Part of the
screen is distorted).
