It only intermittantly (rarely) registers mouse clicks, enough that it's unplayable. I confirmed that this also applies to the current version with the same Mesa libraries, so this is not a problem introduced by the new gnubg version. For right now, I'm going to disable the 3D board in the build to ensure that the game is usable, since based on the above bug report it sounds like the problem is in gnubg and therefore is unlikely to get magically fixed by a newer version of Mesa.
