Details:
when I try to start gpbs under mingw32, and the path has spaces in it, it
simply dies immediately, saying "gpbs - spawn failed - bye." When I start it
using the tilde-expanded directory path (ie no spaces), it starts fine, but
then dies within a second or two, saying "gpbs[2072] Unable to register with
name server."
