At a guess ... this is not a gnustep bug, but more a WindowMaker 'feature'.
Most likely your problem is that you are using Windowmaker, and it has
trapped the command-h key sequence itsself and is minimising the app.
Yes, this was the problem...
If you have the WindowMaker preferences program ... run it, look for the
Keyboard Shortcut Preferences, and clear/change the one to hide the active
application.
