Follow-up Comment #2:
problem solved. Current make still works. Since I needed to get latest to
check our latest changes, I used "make svn-dist" on a computer with a current
svn checkout, which gave me an older tarball. Really tarring up the whole make
dir of the other and rebuilding, made it work.
I wonder why make has no "make dist"?
