Hi Marc, I just committed a slightly bigger patch to GNUstep gui. There I try to detect the presence of flite_cmu_us_kal16 and only build the speech tool in that case. As I don’t have flite installed myself I have to rely on you to test this change. Could you please give it a try?
I agree with you that we should switch to the 16 bit version of the sound file. This has been around for more than seven years now and should be available on all systems where flite gets used with GNUstep.
