Although I agree with you, I'm not sharing your whole opinion. Although I'm liking Google less every day, I just take its 'presence' in DDG as a 'just-in-case' tool. Sometimes Google's accuracy is needed (and I'm saying this as an active DDG user), or prefer using it when you need to look for images (I don't really like Bing).
Your feedback makes sense, but unfortunately I don't think the developers would make anything for it, as DuckDuckGo isn't Icecat's 'personal' search engine; a program that supplies all its privacy related features. A more ambitious project should be making a specific Gnuzilla search engine, which mixes the power of the best ones, and adds some homemade features.
