I've tried pinging at various times over the last few years, at busy times (when it seems everyone was too busy with grep) and slack times (when it seems everyone was too busy with other things) and have not had much luck. I suggest that the grep maintainers look through the patch and bug trackers from time to time; this avoids patch submitters having to second-guess when it's convenient to engage with the maintainers, and also means that patches from submitters who don't have the time to ping the maintainers repeatedly don't get lost. It makes the process more efficient for both parties; I do this for projects I maintain. If on the other hand the maintainers don't want to use the patch tracker, then delete it on Savannah, so that people like me don't waste our time and yours by posting patches there that won't be read. > Please post complete and rebased patches (here, please, not on the > tracker) and I'll take a look. To try to avoid duplicated work, I'll start with one. Attached, a rebased patch for adding transparent decompression using zlib (this is patch #7017). To avoid mixing issues, I have for now removed the run-time dynamic linking of zlib. -- http://rrt.sc3d.org
