Follow-up Comment #29, bug #66653 (group groff): I'm wrong. It's my own damn fault.
The trouble arises from commit [https://cgit.git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/groff.git/commit/?id=81aa7b77c0cf40c292058035d6fdf2249a4031dd 81aa7b77c0, 2022-10-03].
