Follow-up Comment #14, bug #67830 (group groff): Please find attached a document (and its sources) which compiles the available translatable and translated strings for each supported language in groff in a table as an overview. The intent is to have a basis on which one can compare the different defined translation strings for each language, their macro package specific aliases, as well as their values for comparison. This hopefully helps to identity "duplicates" and offer an angle for some clean-up work.
The attached PDF rendition of the document has been produced using:
tbl trans.tbl > trans_.tbl && groff -Tpdf -s -mm -dpaper=a4 -Kutf-8 -dcV=ms
trans.mm > trans.pdf
Unfortunately I have not been able to produce a nice looking nroff version :/
Regarding japanese and chinese: it seems to me that the jp.tmac and zh.tmac do
not translate any of the translatable strings.
Unfortunately I have not been able to render japanese or chinese characters
using the respective JPM and CSS fonts using gropdf.
When producing the document I see the following error likely related to use of
JPM and CSS:
Invalid negative number (-1) in chr at
/nix/store/yy3hr6px8nk5fkwaf8ddg3y0gdc16w06-groff-1.24.0.rc1-perl/bin/.gropdf-wrapped
line 4581, <> line 17195.
At this point I'm uncertain whether this is due to my too naïve approach to
try and render japanese and chinese characters or an issue with (my) groff or
gropdf.
If someone could point to known working examples of PDF documents containing
japanese and chineses characters produced with groff as well as their source
and a command-line example to produce the PDF I'd be happy to dig deeper.
