extension language

Forget what I said about GO.  I'm not going to do it any more.

I've just discovered the language that fits my design criteria, and
even better, it's an official GNU package (!):

I'm downloading it as I write, and will investigate what needs to
happen in order to use it as GRUB's extension language.
