Ilguiz,
I sure hope your memory is correct!!! If what you remember is true, then the windows boot loader is still there. I sure hope it is! I have gotten some odd messages out of GRUB while booting. Now I have actually tried: title Windows root (hd0,0) makeactive chainloader +1 Which should work since my C disk is my primary master. But when I try to do a 'boot', GRUB just complains again. I have installed the lines above on my boot floppy which now works for Linux, but if I choose the Windows boot, it just loads something and then says "Hard Disk Error". Strange and really annoying!! When I, certain my Linux boot worked, tried to install GRUB on the (hd0) I got the same response. It loaded Stage1.5 and then complained about "Hard Disk Error". I did a FDISK /MBR from my DOS rescue disk and tried again and to my big surprise GRUB stage1.5 still loads!!! all that happens is that I get thrown back into the grub shell. Shouldn't FDISK /MBR get rid of GRUB and start the Windows bootloader instead?? I'm really afraid now that my C disk is unbootable!! What do I do when FDISK /MBR doesn't work? IS stage1.5 still there, then it must be possible to get rid of, mustn't it? /Andreas > Andreas, > > Check out > http://www.gnu.org/manual/grub-0.90/html_node/grub_15.html > > Apparently, the Windows loader is located at the start of partition. > Partition can begin only from cylinder boundary if my DOS time memories > serve me.
