Hello Pavel, I have a couple of questions. Can you tell me if grub is a bootloader or a boot manager? I am running ming 1.1 and the grup 0.91. I believe they are both current. My goal is to be able duel boot w2k/FreeBSD and possibly adding linux. I am pretty new to this stuff, so I don't really understand the info in the documentation I have. Do you know where can I find something that could make it easier to understand?

Compile some program to assembler using "gcc -S" and find the name of the label at the beginning of the code. Then change grub_CHECK_USCORE_START_SYMBOL macro in acinclude.m4 to look for that symbol instead of _start. Run aclocal and autoconf to regenerate configure. Now configure should work. I thing that "make" will also work. At very least you should be able to compile the GRUB shell (grub.exe) by running "make -k". If you manage to compile the stage* files be careful and try them from the floppy first. I remember that they had some extra zeroes. If you have any questions please specify versions of GNU GRUB and MinGW. Make sure you are using the latest versions of both. > Is it even possible to use grub with mingw?
