I'm afraid that you misunderstand us. The same thing happens very often in other projects, in particular, in Linux. Even if a patch gives you more power, a maintainer often rejects the patch because of technical reasons. It is good in the long-term perspective. Do you know how many times a contributor of Linux rewrites a patch before being accepted? This effort makes Linux so stable and usable. It applies to GRUB as well. So if you respect Linux's way, please respect GRUB's way as well. BTW, GRUB is spread enough, and it is used mainly by GNU/Linux users. I have seen some people who didn't know how popular GRUB was, just because they didn't use GRUB themselves, but in reality it is used. Therefore, I must rather struggle to remind people of that there are other operating systems than GNU/Linux.
