Follow-up Comment #1, bug #14349 (project grub):
This issue also shows up when you build on certain amd64 based systems. It
has been reported to the binutils project as
http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=5059 and they believe there is
a problem with the ./configure check in grub.
