Follow-up Comment #3, bug #39527 (project grub):

I'll try to test somewhere during the weekend, but just as a quick comment:
I didn't mean a degraded array (a two disk array with one missing disk), that
also worked fine for me. The problem is an array that is configured to consist
of a single disk, with -n 1 in the mdadm create command (this also requires -f
to force mdadm to create a one-disk array).
