As in "make dist"?  Yes, that's what I did.  But "make distcheck"
fails.  No wait. I just tried it, and it worked.  I'm going wackky or
something.  I'll try to build again from the fresh tar.gz on the qube
tonight.

These are the tools on the Qube.  My Debian machine has the right tools
to build from cvs. let's see: autoconf 2.50, automake 1.4-p4, libtool
1.4.  My machine should be fine.  I didn't think the auto* stuff was
necessary when building from a distributed tat.gz.
