I didn't know either, but lilypond emits an error message...
BTW, some of the German message translations are really ugly,
partially caused by ignorance (I mean the German `Unwissenheit', not
`Ignoranz' :-)
Roland, are you still maintaining de.po? Do you regularly update your
CVS copy? Shall I directly commit changes to the CVS (as I've done
recently, fixing a minor typo) or pass translations to you? I can't
find your name in the ChangeLog file...
