New issue 1169 by percival.music.ca: essay on new website

The new website was made with the 2.13 docs in mind. The 2.12 docs don't
contain the essay.
I'd be tempted to ignore this problem, but enough users noticed, and some
people are so happy with the "introduction-ness" of the essay, that I think
we'd better consider this a critical problem.
So...
1) if we wait until 2.14 before switching websites, we don't need to do
anything; the website already works with the 2.14 docs.
2) if we switch websites before 2.14, we need to resolve this somehow.
due to the dual nature of priorities, I'm calling this Type-Other.
