It appears that SSLv2 has been removed from the OpenSSL standard.
Here's a link that says you can fix it by installing a different openssl
instead of the standard Ubuntu install:

It appears to me that this is ultimately a problem with curl that will need
to be fixed.
I found this info by googling SSLv2_client_method ubuntu 11
I have not tested it, because I don't have ubuntu. There appears to be
some dissatisfaction out there about Ubuntu oneiric -- maybe it was
prematurely released.
