Can you look at the code change instead of the comment here?
The change is much more significant that one word
Also you can use a \partial in the middle of a piece (i do all the time)
but it does give you a warning and can lead to odd typesetting so I am
told, although Its never hit me. This is why we give a 'warning' in the doc
to use the alternative method.
