First, is this problem definitely still in 2.15.24 ?
Second, we could always just rewrite the python scripts. And by "rewrite",
I mean "add maybe 10 lines of python to use os.popen3 instead of
subprocess, as discussed at the top of python/book_snippets.py".
Third, we could seriously examine Jan's patch to determine why it worked at
the time, and what has changed since then.
I reject the notion that we need to give up on having Grand Unified
Binaries just because we don't want to write 10 lines of python.
