Sure. This cannot be done via offsets, but using self-alignment. Aaaaand the good news is: i have a working draft now. It's very dirty & needs serious cleanup, but it seems that all puzzle pieces are in place. I'm quite surprised that it took me 2hrs to arrive at this moment - i expected it to be an 1-hour job.
