Elaine Gould in Behind Bars, p188, shows some examples of fermate for unison and adjacent notes. The fermata always centres on the note that is on the 'correct' side of the stem (for adjacent notes) or on the first one (unison). Two fermate seem to be shown only if there are two stems. But I think this should be left to the engraver to code, rather than expecting LP to remove a coded fermata. > % > % 2.
