Ah, yes, that's true. Actually, the only point left in 3.x to consider it fully functional is the imap client code, which you seem to need. But I've got a good news for you:) If you have enough patience to wait for the next 7-10 days, then I'll supply a brand new imap client code for you. I'll let you know when it is ready.
