I didn't have anything else in mind and, even looking through the NEWS,
nothing's jumping out, so I'm surprised to have seemingly been right.  As sir
is obviously a golfer, being unafraid to apply patches and rebuild, building a
version from a git checkout before the first related change would, if it's
still slow, eliminate shell-export with more confidence.  git bisect always
feels like such a big hill to climb but...
