You guys are very helpful and I regret my initial attitude here. That rescue CD is the most highly rated in all the (1 year old) reviews; I think the first thing is to get the website maintainer to put a health warning on it. I shall attempt this. I'm even more puzzled to see that Yury has a namesys email address. That address doesn't work anymore but yes, Yury wrote that non-namesys code when he worked for namesys (maybe only in his spare time) on which reiser4 userspace code is also based on now :-) The responsibility of "whose code" is starting to baffle me. However I do endeavor to be helpful and get to the bottom of this, to prevent other people suffering what I did. Great, but please don't give up too easily :-) Szaka
