I use tar to backup volumes NFS-exported from a NetApp, and I would love to see
Jean-Louis's two proposals incorporated into tar. Then I'd be able to
perform backups
from snapshots instead of the live filesystem. When I try it now,
incrementals are
usually the same size as full dumps.
