I am curious whether there was anything really incorrect with my
--one-top-level stuff, and if so, whether you have reproducers for it.
It looks from the commit messages of your subsequent changes, the changes
were meant as optimizations and cleanups, not as fixes of any actual
problems. (With the exception of allowing --one-top-level only with -x,
-d, and -t, which is a fairly minor change and was a known TODO in my
patch.) But perhaps I misunderstood them.
