Hi,
It looks that multiple *.texi files in the texinfo distribution include
the same version.texi file. It breaks versioning completely (a single
vers*.texi file has no means to track multiple versions and modification
dates) and makes automake (correctly) bail out with an error when
processing Makefile.am templates. The attached patch is a simple and
hopefully obvious fix. Tested against automake 1.4.
