What version of Texinfo do you use? What does "makeinfo --version"
print?
As far as I could see, this does work in Texinfo 4.0, the latest
release. If you have an older version, I suggest to upgrade.
If you do have v4.0, please post the smallest file that can be used to
reproduce this behavior.
PS. And please don't post in HTML, it makes it very hard to read.
