Follow-up Comment #6, bug #28359 (project texinfo): Ok, seems like http://search.cpan.org/~kubota/Text-CharWidth-0.04/CharWidth.pm is the way to go.
It seems that the default for perl is to count characters when using a plain
length(). What does the info reader do?
