The output of @kbd{M-@key{TAB}} is OK. I would change the example
sentence into
Type @kbd{@key{TAB}} or @kbd{M-@key{TAB}}.
Both slanted "TAB" and "M-TAB" indicate, that input via keyboard is meant.
