Hi Artem,

thanks for you interest in contributing to Wget!

Please be aware that the 1.x version is in maintenance mode.

New features would go into Wget2 which you can find on https://gitlab.com/gnuwget/wget2 .

Please be aware that any non-trivial contribution requires the author to sign the FSF copyright assignment (at the end of this email)

Also please be aware that we won't accept any AI generated code atm because of legal/copyright issues that still needs clarification. This will take a while. Once these issues have been cleared, I am personally open to AI generated contributions as long as they have a good quality.

If you decide to go this route, please open an issue at https://gitlab.com/gnuwget/wget2 for discussion and tracking with an explanation on the why (motivation) and how (rough outline of the implementation/design you have in mind).

Thank you so much,
Tim

P.S.:
Please email the following information to [email protected], and we
will send you the assignment form for your past and future changes.

Please use your full legal name (in ASCII characters) as the subject
line of the message.

Hi,

I'm interested in adding native rsync:// support to GNU Wget, starting
with basic functionality such as directory listings and file
downloads.

The idea is to make commands like wget
rsync://example.org/module/file.tar.gz work without depending on an
external rsync executable.

Would this be something you'd consider accepting upstream? I'd be
interested in working on it.

Thanks!
