I don't quite understand. You mean, U-Boot accepts a dfu-upload during the (very
small) interval while it got booted, loads the kernel and hands control over to
it?

Ok, reading 604 confirms that. In that case I agree, it shouldn't listen to DFU
if in normal bootup.

On GTA01, reading the current is not possible while charging. If we could stop
charging for a second, we could read it. Adding an own bug for that.

Alternatively we can stop charging, measure current, start charging again. This
depends on our ability to stop charging, of course (which doesn't work yet).
Adding another bug on that.

Hi Harald,
Thanks for the tips, this is more than enough to get me started at fixing this
issue. :-)
I'm gonna try what you suggested over the week end, and hopefully come up with a
patch for it.
Cheers,
Fabien

you don't need to read the actual charge current to determine 100ma/500ma mode.
You can easily read the sysfs file and see if it shows "pre" or "fast_cccv"

well, the problem is not straight-forward to solve the way how DFU works.
Basically we would need yet another set of usb device/configuration descriptors,
one that hides the fact that this device supports DFU at all (i.e. no dfu
functional descriptor present).
Now we bascially have three different descriptors,
1) default descriptor set (ACM) without DFU capability
2) ACM descriptor set, with DFU capability
3) DFU mode descriptor, no ACM
btw: the kernel flashing usually works quite fine in that short time interval,
since it is sufficient to only partially modify the flash (first 1 or two
eraseblocks) before they are read to ram. The result will have an invalid CRC,
so booting is aborted and you can finish the transfer.
doesn't work for rootfs that way, though.

this is just because all the panels are from one batch at the moment. that will
definitely change in the future, and actually even half of the
currently-being-produced units might have a different batch.
Milosch's new GTA02 production process / flow will however have provision for
touchscreen calibration. The question is still how and where to store. Since
the testing software is intended to run from within a linux system, it's
probably possible to even write it into the rootfs.

What about libcanberra? (the idea would be to have different implementation, but
a common API across sound systems/platforms)
