Comment(by roh):
tested with a borrowed O2 3g sim yesterday.
setup was:
- a known to be working tchibo-sim (also O2, reseller)
- a unknown O2 3g sim
- freerunner prototype #85
- FSO milestone 1
with the tchibo sim it asks for the pin on boot and accepts it, registers
fine.
with the O2 3g sim it asked for the pin on boot, but did not accept it.
a test with a second phone showed that in fact the sim-pin on the O2 3g
sim was deactivated before and the FR should not have asked for the pin,
but registered immediately.
we set the pin to '0000' with the other phone, swapped back the sim to the
FR and from there on the pin '0000' was accepted fine, and FR did indeed
work with both sim.
so please test the sim which do not work with a second phone, and if there
is no pin set, set some and try again.

Comment(by oneiros):
There is currently a thread about non-working 3g cards on the community
mailing list. Personally I have two sim cards from different providers
that do not work. Aside from the provider logo they look almost the same.
I have attached photographs of one of the sim cards.
The behaviour of the card in the photo is exactly the same as described
here: http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2008-July/020636.html
A PIN is set and working in other phones. Un- and resetting the PIN did
not help.
I would be glad to assist further in tracking down this nasty bug that
seems to affect a lot of people, especially in Germany.

#1542: gps does not get fix

Comment(by BlueStar88):
After running OM GPS UI 0.20 for several hours (> 6) I still get no fix
and no coordinates. The display shows more than 12 satellites at different
levels, mostly above the first third part of the scale and there's a
'normal' log message flow. It was running under different conditions, near
by the office window, wrist side for a walk and on a chair in the open
home garden.
I haven't placed any assist data into it yet, but it *should* work without
it.
I have no external antenna for further testings.
Since the GPS-module should work autonomous (besides the os and user space
software) it could be a severe hardware or firmware issue.. :-(

Comment(by nibbler):
The card is definitely a gemalto sim. I have a bunch of these as demo
cards (without actual content) and at least one with o2 customisation
(from the very same series as the card pictured). I will pass all of them
to roh during next week. hope that helps.

Comment(by benito):
I got me a new card from an o2-store which works (without charge, by the
way, go for it). It looks different from the old one: on the front side
the chip is more squared, and the number on the back starts with 6074723.
My old one (which didn't work) looks very similar to the one previously
uploaded by oneiros, it only differs in the number on the back from the
8th digit on (the characters match again).

Comment(by nibbler):
probably you got one of these: https://nibbler.de/attic/o2-sims-
1q2q2007.png
i guess they come from g&d but i'm not sure about that.
o2 in deed swaps sims for free but only if you can state in a credible
manner that your sim is defective else they ask you for ~15-20eur per sim.
the amount of persuasion needed varies from shop to shop... good luck ;-)
